I’m Kristy Keel-Blackmon, the photographer behind Oak Roots Creative.
My love affair with art began as a child when I started painting on brown paper bags at my parents' kitchen table. My passion grew and led me to earn a fine arts degree at the University of South Carolina. I learned the rules and principles of art, rolled and developing my own film, and printed my photos from negatives in a darkroom.
I started Oak Roots Creative to bring more beauty into the world—and into your life—with photography that captures the amazing moments of your life.

Why?
Because of Polaroids.
You see, my parents did a great job of documenting my childhood with photography. But all of my baby pictures are Polaroids. While Polaroids are a fun party trick, they are not made to last.
Every one of my baby photos is slowly fading, growing fuzzy, turning yellow, and losing tremendous amounts of precious detail. I’ve scanned them to preserve what’s left, but I can never get those original images back.
I want something better for you.
