Oliver’s First Birthday
Oliver is a very scientific baby. The *most* scientific baby I’ve ever met! In fact, call him “the tiny engineer.” He just turned one, and he loves putting “things” into other “things.” His favorite toys are little blocks and shapes that fit neatly into larger containers. I love seeing him figure out these puzzles. It’s almost as if you can see his baby gears turning as he figures out each one. And his tiny, little hands are so adept for a one-year-old!
This session was really special and rewarding because a little over a year ago, I took maternity photos for Amye and Aaron (and their pup, Slippers). And now they just celebrated Oliver’s very first birthday. Time is a thief for sure! Amye and Aaron are actually my neighbors, so it’s been such a treat to see them around the neighborhood with Oliver in the stroller. So I’ve been able to see him grow from a tiny baby to a very expressive, little guy.
We met at Meads Quarry in South Knoxville—one of my favorite spots for photo sessions, but also for swimming, hiking, mountain biking, and wildlife viewing! There were so many beautiful wildflowers blooming for the session. Thousands of asters and chicory dotting the landscape.
Oliver was dressed to the nines for this session! Complete with baby suspenders, a baby bowtie, and a linen button-down shirt. Basically, the cutest outfit a little guy could have. He was very interested in rocks that we found along the trail and was actually holding an extra-special one for some of the photos. Amye and Aaron were thoughtful parents and brought toys for Oliver, but apparently, the rocks were more enticing! Maybe he’ll be a geologist instead of an engineer.
Happy birthday, Oliver! I can’t wait to see you continue to grow and learn! And thank you to my fantastic neighbors, Amye and Aaron, for trusting me with your maternity and family photos. It was an honor, and I hope these photos bring you all joy for many years to come.
