The Gill Family at Ijams Nature Center
It’s always a special honor to see a family for another photo session. (There’s no greater gift to a photographer than having repeat clients!) It’s even better to witness the growth of the family. I was fortunate to work with the Gills a few years back when their oldest, Caroline, was just one year old.
Now, she’s the big sister, and a little brother has been added to the family! While Caroline is the spitting image of her mom, Patrick is the mini-me of their dad.
I loved seeing how Caroline had grown up over the years! She’s now a spunky, adventurous, and brave kid, and she is an expert big sister. She helped entertain Patrick and led him around the big rocks and roots. They had a great time playing in the forest and inspecting rocks, leaves, and insects at the Ijams Nature Center nature playscape.
Caroline came equipped with her favorite stuffed animal (a very well-loved polar bear), and Patrick came with a little blanket and pacifier in tow. It’s important to capture these little details in family photos, too! It’s special, for parents and children alike, to be able to look back at these sentimental items. I always suggest that parents bring a special toy or blanket to the session specifically for this purpose! (Note: For more tips about how to prepare for a family photo session, check out my other blog post: How to Take the Stress Out of Family Photo Sessions.)
And talk about a perfect autumn day! It was crisp and cool, but warm enough for the kids to run around outside without jackets. I hope you can see the beauty of the weather from these photos. The gorgeous autumn light sparkled through the trees on this beautiful morning.
This family was an absolute delight to work with for the second time around! Many thanks to the Gills for putting their trust in me again and for the fun session!
