Nave Family at Meads Quarry
When Danielle stepped out of the car for our photo session at Meads Quarry, she had a gift bag dangling from her arm, and a big smile on her face. We had texted beforehand, so I knew that the gift wasn’t for me. It was for her husband, Brandon. And to be honest, I was a little afraid that I might lose my cool at the end of the session. That I might ugly-cry (just a little bit!) because I knew what was in the bag.
You see, Danielle and Brandon were celebrating their rainbow baby at this session, and she had decided to reveal the gender to him at the very end. We had texted beforehand and had even come up with a “code phrase” so that Danielle would know when it was time.
So I gave Danielle the cue, she handed the bag to him, and he opened it excitedly. A little pink outfit was inside. Brandon’s reaction was so sweet and priceless! You can see it all the way at the end of the post.
Side note: Seriously…what an absolute honor to be part of that moment of their lives. As a photographer, I sometimes get to just hush, melt into the background, and click the shutter button. So even though I was there and witnessing this really sweet and important moment, I tried to back up and give them enough space so that they felt like they were alone, at least for a few moments. The good news is that I did NOT cry! I definitely held it together for them! Success!
Danielle and Brandon are such a wonderful couple. They are quick to smile, quick to laugh, and exude kindness. It was such a great experience working with them. We actually had never met before our session, but it immediately felt like meeting old friends. I’m grateful to have met them and provide them with heirloom photographs that their baby will hold when she’s all grown up.
