How to Prepare for Head Shots and Branding Sessions
Getting ready for new head shots or a branding session doesn’t have to be complicated. In fact, it’s pretty simple. Just follow these steps, and you’ll already have a great start!
If you’re familiar with the concept of branding, you may know that it’s important to define the “why” in everything that you do for the brand. So, why do you want these photos? To represent you in your business? What kind of business is it? Are you an artist, or do you work in a corporate environment? Is the session for a new LinkedIn profile photo? For dating websites? Just for yourself? Clearly define why you want the photos in the first place, and think about who will see them.
Again, what are you trying to portray with your photos? Who is the “target audience” for these photos (or who will you be sharing the photos with)? Depending on your purpose, you’ll need to go more or less casual with your look. That goes for the little details, too, like jewelry, scarves, cuff links, and so on.
Again, this goes back to your “why.” It goes without saying that if you are getting these photos for a strictly corporate office job, we’re not going to do the photo session in the middle of a forest. Likewise, if you’re a florist, we’re not going to do the session in a boardroom. Think about your purpose, but don’t worry over the location! I’ve got lots of suggestions that we can go over when we plan your session.
There you go, my friends. Three easy steps. That’s all you have to do to get ready! The rest is just showing up on time, trusting me, and following my cues as I lead you through the session. Not too bad, right? You might even catch yourself having fun.
If you’re interested in new head shots or a branding session, shoot me an email! We’ll get a session lined up that is totally in-line with your why. Have other questions about sessions? Don’t hesitate to get in touch.
