When I walked into the party room at the Transformation Church, I could tell this baby shower was for a couple who is very, very loved. Rekisha and James’s friends went all out for this shower and created a beautiful space to celebrate the new baby girl who will arrive soon.

The room was full of pink decorations, balloons, selfie walls, games, prizes, lots of laughter, lots of food, and lots of love. The Rhyans’ friends organized all of this, and it was obvious how much thought, care, and love went into every detail. You know you’re dealing with professionals when they form a baby shower committee!

The shower theme was “Adventure Awaits,” and the party planning committee had taken it to the nines. From the pink adventure cake to the tiny suitcases, travel map, and travel-themed party favors, no detail was missed. 

When it came time to open gifts, Rekisha sat in a chair beside an absolute mountain of bags and boxes. Physical representations of the care and affection of all the friends and family there. Their loved ones made sure they’d have everything they needed to transition this family from three to four members.

I mentioned to one of the committee how amazing the party was and how beautifully everything was decorated. She simply replied, “They deserve this so much. They really do deserve this.”

This is the first time I’ve been asked to photograph a baby shower, and it was an honor to capture this moment in time for the Rhyans. I hope that these images remind them of all the love and support that was behind them. 

They say it takes a village to raise a child, and the Rhyans already have that established. Wishing the entire family good health and good luck with the new addition to the family!
